Our group name "GGRLS" is not simply a combination of our first initials, but a nod to the Riot Grrls of the 1990s who were creative, feminist revolutionary punks!

🌱 Land Acknowledgement & Positionality Statement 🌱

We acknowledge that we live and work on Treaty One land, the original home of the Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anishininiwak, Dakota, et Déné, and the homeland of the Red River Metis people, and also on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nation. Susan is a white settler female living in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Lisa is a female, first generation Chinese-born Canadian living in Vancouver, British Columbia; Rynnie is a female, third-generation Chinese diaspora born and raised in Malaysia currently living in Vancouver, British Columbia. We recognise that as non-Indigenous educators working and learning in Canada, it is our responsibility to decolonize our pedagogy as part of our commitment to champion EDIDA (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Decolonization and Anti-racism) and to bring Indigenous teachings to our students. We gratefully acknowledge that we can only achieve this with the help and guidance of Indigenous scholars, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers. We are privileged to have the opportunity to develop a digital game that centres on Indigenous teachings in fulfillment of our graduate studies at the University of British Columbia under ETEC 544 Digital Games and Learning.
